Weekend Outings

Suitable for wheelchair users, people with mobility issues and sight impairments, our weekend outings go to a wide variety of accessible green spaces including the seaside, nature reserves and stately home gardens. Volunteer support is available on the day and the fully accessible minibus can often pick you up and drop you home afterwards.

Every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year, between 10am - 5pm, advertised through our quarterly programme (ring to get added to our mailing list).

Open Country

Open Country is the Yorkshire charity set up to enable anyone with a disability or mental health condition to access and enjoy the countryside. We do this through a range of activity groups, as well as advice, information and training. In Wakefield we have a base at Thornes Park and with the provision of two fully adapted minibuses and volunteer support, we go out throughout the week, evenings and weekends. Our groups include the Nature Force group, Wildlife Walking group, Adapted Cycling Club, Weekend Outings Club and Adventure Club.
