Wildlife Walking Group

This Thursday day service runs weekly throughout the year, going out with volunteer support for walks of up to 7 miles in the local countryside. On route we study nature and wildlife - spotting butterflies, bird watching, pond dipping, tree surveys and more! The group meets at Thornes Park at 10am and finishes around 4.30pm with local drop-offs included. Ring for further details or to book your free taster session.

Open Country

Open Country is the Yorkshire charity set up to enable anyone with a disability or mental health condition to access and enjoy the countryside. We do this through a range of activity groups, as well as advice, information and training. In Wakefield we have a base at Thornes Park and with the provision of two fully adapted minibuses and volunteer support, we go out throughout the week, evenings and weekends. Our groups include the Nature Force group, Wildlife Walking group, Adapted Cycling Club, Weekend Outings Club and Adventure Club.
