WDH Independent Living Schemes

Enquire

Do you have a friend or relative who now needs a bit more help at home, or support with their everyday living, but they aren't ready to live in a retirement home or residential care home?

An independent living scheme is the perfect solution. Our properties help to support their independent lifestyle, meaning they have their own door key and can come and go as they please, while still living within a larger secure scheme, or a self-contained bungalow, that offers them safety and peace of mind.

Our independent living schemes are located in towns throughout the Wakefield district. All are near to local amenities, meaning residents are never far from shops and essential services.

Residents have a built-in support system as each property is fitted with a WDH Care Link alarm – a 24-hour emergency contact point.

Each scheme has either a Community Support Worker or an Extra Care Scheme Manager who looks after each resident's welfare and liaises with relevant agencies where required. They also arrange and support social activities and events to encourage the active and happy atmosphere found at our independent living schemes. There is always something going on, whether it's one of the many trips or a get together in the residents' lounge, boccia bowling, bingo, charity events, or even learning to get online.

There are no age restrictions for our independent living schemes.

Extra Care Schemes

For anyone who needs a little more help, we also offer Extra Care Independent Living Schemes in Ossett and Featherstone. These offer the same great facilities as our traditional independent living schemes but offer some additional benefits for those who need them.

Our Extra Care Schemes provide you with safe, secure independent living and a busy social scene but also provide a daily three-course lunch in the lounge and domestic assistants to help keep your home clean. See more about our Extra Care Schemes in the list below.
